Arrest made in downtown hit-and-run that injured woman on bicycle

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – NOPD has arrested a man who reportedly hit a bicyclist with his vehicle downtown earlier this month and fled the scene.

According to NOPD, the incident happened around 8:25 a.m. on September 12 at the intersection of Magazine Street and Andrew Higgins Drive. Responding officers found a female cyclist had been hit by a vehicle and suffered minor injuries. She was taken to the hospital and released the same day.

Witnesses at the scene told officers they saw the driver of a white Dodge vehicle hit the cyclist while she was riding in the bicycle lane and then drive away. Surveillance video showed the woman get hit. Officers identified Michael Foley, 24, as the suspect.

Foley turned himself in and was booked into central lock-up.
