NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Cafe Reconcile in Central City is known for helping at-risk youth learn job skills necessary to make a career in the food and restaurant industry.

Now, the non-profit restaurant wants to extend their helping hand to the rest of the community tomorrow for lunch with its first-ever “pay what you can” meal.

It’s exactly like it sounds. Folks can come in a pay whatever they can, even if it’s a dollar or two for a hot meal.

Executive chef Eugene Temple Jr. says it’s a great way to get to know the community around them.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. tomorrow.

In addition to helping those who may not be normally able to afford a lunch, Cafe Reconcile also hopes that people who can will give a little extra donation for the restaurant in order to help keep their mentoring program growing.
