NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Drew Brees and the Saints have reached a deal to extend the quarterback’s contract for another two years.

The deal will guarantee $44.25 million for Brees through the 2017 season. That’s $20 million for the upcoming season that starts Sunday and $24.25 million next year, according to multiple reports.

The contract extension reportedly includes clauses that prohibit trades or using the franchise tag.

Brees, 37, led the Saints to their only Super Bowl win. The Saints have also made the playoffs five times since he joined the team in 2006.

Brees had previously said he would not continue contract talks once the regular season began.

“I am humbled and honored to be here, as I have been since the day I became a Saint,” he said.
