NEW ORLEANS(WGNO)--Kings toasting and a fiesta in the streets--this isn't Mardi Gras, it's the Spanish tradition of running of the bulls, with a twist!
In spain they run from bulls, In Nueva Orelans we run from derby girls,on wheels, with plastic baseball bats, and contact is encouraged.
At 8 AM sharp over 300 bulls are released on to the streets of downtown New Orleans. Beginning and ending at the Sugar Mill, the course is slightly over a mile and will have you working up a sweat with a smile on your face.
Unlike Pamplona the only danger is having too much fun, the young the old, everyone enjoys this feisty tradition. Our bulls are a little more playfull than the ones in Spain, chasing the slowest runners of the herd and giving them a little love tap on the booty with their bats.
A little weekend exercise, sangria, and charity, this event is in it's 10th year and coincides with the festival of San Fermin.
