Banana company splits New Orleans and heads back to Mississippi

New Orleans (WGNO)--Chiquita Bananas is leaving the Port of New Orleans after two years and returning to Gulfport.

The banana company was in Mississippi for 40-years before leaving for Louisiana in 2014.

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant says the new lease will keep the banana company there for another four decades.

The first shipment of bananas into Gulfport is expected in August.
