NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- There's going to be a tropical twist at the big gala tomorrow, Whitney Zoo-To-Do to support the Audubon Zoo.
Whitney Bank's Zoo-To-Do is a formal affair, but you're invited to feel like you're in the tropics, especially if you want to help the zoo's tropical birds!
Zazu the cockatoo needs a new home. You can help Zazu and her other feathered friends get a new tropical birdhouse at the Audubon Zoo by simply going to Whitney Bank's Zoo-To-Do.
Stephanie Joseph, youth development manager at the Audubon Zoo, said proceeds from the event will help the zoo rebuild and renovate the tropical birdhouse
"We focus on conservation of species, and by having these birds, it helps us to educate the public," Joseph said.
Renovations on the birdhouse aren't expected until this fall, but you can still show your support now by buying tickets to Friday night's event. If you're really feeling the spirit, you can wear upscale tropical attire to Zoo-To-Do. Women are asked to wear cocktail attire, while men must wear either a white linen suit or a tuxedo.
Today we had an impromptu fashion show at the Audubon Zoo, so our models could show off their tropical threads. The women are chairs with Whitney's Zoo-To-Do, while the men work for Whitney Bank. The women are decked out in fashions by Azby's, while the men are wearing Jos. A. Bank white linen suits with ties from Pelican Coast.
"We are very happy to have a variety of birds inhabit the tropical birdhouse, we plan on having a variety of species. Zoo-To-Do really helps make this possible for birds like Zazu," Joseph said.
Zoo-To-Do starts at 8 p.m. Friday for the general public. You could even win a new Lexus.
You must buy your tickets online HERE because they will not be sold at the door.
