10-year-old fashion designer proving style is no child’s play

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - It's New Orleans Fashion Week, and young designers get to see their creations come to life on the runway. News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez met one designer, who is really young.


Making her debut at New Orleans Fashion Week is a 10-year-old designer from Pass Christian, Mississippi.

With her sewing machine and her measuring tape, Alex Bujan is proving being a fashion designer is no child's play.

"The most difficult part is drawing because you may mess up and then you have to do it again and again and again," Bujan said.


This young designer got her start modeling on the fashion runway, but decided she didn't want just to wear the clothes; she wanted to design them.

"I thought it would be interesting and cool to try and become a designer, and now I'm here," she said.

Alex's friends are her models for Designs by Alexandra Bujan and Tracee Dundas the Creative Director of New Orleans Fashion Week is blown away by her drive and maturity.


"I'm going to keep my eye on her and just watch her blossom and grow as a young designer.  We've got some big plans in the future for her," Dundas said.

"I really like designing, so I hope it takes me very far," Bujan said.

Her designs are part of the "Kid's Runway Day Show" during Fashion Week at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk.
