Suspect in shooting of Tulane med student now charged with raping couple the next day
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The man accused of shooting Tulane medical student Peter Gold during a November 20th attempted kidnapping is now charged with raping a couple that he carjacked the very next day.
According to NOPD Investigators, less than 24 hours after Euric Cain shot Gold, he carjacked a couple near the corner of St. Phillip and Henriette Delille Streets, taking their cash and credit cards.
After that, Investigators say Cain forced them to drive to a parking lot of a nearby abandoned school where he sexually assaulted both the woman and the man before fleeing the scene.
Detectives say they were able to connect Cain to the crimes through surveillance video of Cain using the victim’s credit cards, as well as, DNA evidence.
Cain, who was captured on November 23rd., has already been indicted on attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping charges, now faces a slew of new charges including 2 counts of first-degree rape as well as more kidnapping and theft charges in connection with the carjacking case.
Cain is currently being held in Orleans Parish Prison on a $6-million bond.
If convicted on all charges he faces mandatory life in prison.
