An eight-year old boy is recovering after escaping from a burning apartment in New Orleans East.
Fire fighters got the call a little before 4:00 this morning.
They say seven people were able to escape the flames through a rear window in the apartment in the 4400 block of Gawain Drive.
The NOFD says the boy hurt his leg while climbing through the window.
Early indications are a scented candle started the fire.
Fire fighters add several apartments, including the one that caught fire, did not have working smoke alarms.
