Extended hours for Algiers/Canal Street Ferry coming soon

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Effective Monday, October 12, the Algiers Point/Canal Street Ferry will operate on an extended schedule for a four-month trial period.

The hours will include:

Early departure on Fridays, starting at 6 a.m.  and  extended evening hours, with the last ferry departing at 11:45 p.m.

Early departures on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., extended evening hours, with the last ferry departing at 11:45 p.m.

Early departures on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., extended evening hours, with the last ferry departing at 9:45 p.m.

The RTA says that the extended evening hours will give residents of both banks an opportunity to enjoy the many events and festivals coming this holiday season, as well as provide increased accessibility to the historic Algiers Point Neighborhood and businesses.

The extended hours will end on February 14, 2016.
