NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Listen up, dog lovers!  There's a way you can help rescue dogs find a good home.

News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez takes a look at an upcoming doggie fashion show---to help pups get adopted and to help the rescue centers who take care of them.

Times were rough for these dogs..."Tchoupitoulas", "Charlie" and especially "Alex".

"When he came into care, he weighed 40 lbs.  They did everything the could to save his life.  He had three surgeries.  He now weighs 80 lbs. and is doing much better,"  Diane Lundeen, Owner of Petcetera and Organizer for Petcetera Presents: "Bad to the Bone: Rescued on the Runway", which will be held at Eiffel Society.

After being rescued, Alex is healthier and both "Tchoupitoulas" and "Charlie" have found happy homes.  They are no longer living the rough life, but living the super dog life.

"Chasing balls, swimming, eating, fishing, and loving,"  Lundeen said.

And now they can add four-legged supermodels to their resumes when the dogs hit the runway for the doggie fashion show.

"It is about pure love.  What we want to do is get people to take these dogs home.  Give them a forever home.  It gives the animals the opportunity to be seen,"  Lundeen said.

The doggie fashion show starts at 7:30 p.m. and all the dog models will be up for adoption with the hope to be rescued on the runway!  There will be a costume contest for best dressed pet, best human costume, and best pet/person pair.  Runway costumes will be provided by local designers.

Prizes include a six month supply of Natural Balance dog food from Petcetera, and other great prizes.

The rescue groups participating are:  Bulldog Rescue, Weimaraner Rescue, Jefferson SPCA, ABARS Mastiff Rescue, Used Dogs, Tater Tot Big Dog Rescue, Doggone Express, Lovers Not Biters Dog Rescue, The Sula Foundation, LA/SPCA, P.A.W.S., and The Humane Society of Louisiana.

There will also be a silent auction promoting Project Spay/Neuter program.  Music will be provided by Alexis and the Samurai, and there will be food vendors. The event is open to all-ages.
