NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Many NOFD firefighters were sent from one big blaze to another Thursday night.
The first was a two-alarm fire in the 1700 block of Marigny Street and N. Derbigny in the St. Roch neighborhood.
The second was just a couple of blocks away in the Seventh Ward, at 2020 N. Derbigny Street.
The first fire started around 7:30 p.m, the second one, about 40 minutes later. Both are considered suspicious.
There are no reports of injuries and Superintendent Tim McConnell told WGNO that he was extremely proud of how his men handled both incidents, arriving within five minutes of flames being reported.
"Both fires created an issue because they were so far along by the time they were reported to us. We got there and they had spread to adjacent structures. In both cases, firefighters were on the scene with in five minutes, but the fires had gotten a good head start on us," McConnell told WGNO.
