NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The sheriff’s office is looking for a man who tried to rob two Wal-Marts in Jefferson Parish Thursday morning.

The first incident took place at 1:48 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say a single gunman who was described as a male from 5’9 – 5’10 with a slim build, wearing dark clothing and a black ski mask entered a Wal-Mart off Lapalco Blvd in Marrero. After he got inside, police say he tried to break into the money room. After he was unable to break in, he fired several shotgun rounds into the door, but still couldn’t get in. The suspect fled the scene leaving no injuries and nothing stolen.

The second incident took place hours later around 4 a.m., where police believe the same man forced his way into the Wal-Mart off Jefferson Highway. According to the witnesses, he approached the locked doors, fired through the glass and entered the building. Like the first incident, the man was unable to gain access to the money room and fled the store leaving no injuries or items stolen. This time he was described as being 5’10-6’0 wearing all black and a cloth type face mask.
