New Orleans restaurateur Tony Angello dies at 88

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Tony Angello, owner of Tony Angello’s Ristorante died this week. He was 88 years old.

The popular New Orleans restaurateur opened his landmark Tony Angello’s Ristorante in Lakeview in 1972 and had operated it ever since.

Angello was also honored as Restaurateur of the Year by the Louisiana Restaurant Association in 2009.

“Tony Angello was a wonderful human being and a great ambassador for the city of New Orleans. He brought laughter and joy to everyone he met, and he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and many friends during this difficult time,” Mayor Mitch Landrieu said in a statement.
