Police identify body found on I-10 as 16-year-old Kaylan Ward

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the death of 16-year-old Kaylan Ward. Ward’s body was discovered Thursday (June 4) on Interstate 10 East Bridge at Bullard Avenue.

According to the NOPD, Ward was last seen wearing a black shirt, black bike shorts, and orange slippers while walking river bound on Earhart Boulevard near Magnolia Street, at approximately midnight. At that time, she was attempting to get a ride to North Miro Street.

Traffic Investigator Anthony Pontiff is in charge of the investigation and can be reached at 658-6205.

The Coroner’s Office will continue to work with NOPD investigators to determine the exact cause of death.

    I’m truly sorry about your lost Ms.Nelson. Her youngest child and my kid goes to the same school same class. Ms. Nelson is kind and sweet. She looks out for the well-being of your child and that’s what i love about her.
