NOPD makes two arrests in shooting of officer from Ireland

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) --  The NOPD took two suspects to jail Tuesday night in connection with the shooting and robbery of an officer from Ireland who was visiting the city.

Initially, police arrested Melvin Galle, Junior for his alleged role in the attack.  At the time, they also arrested his brother, Keith, but made it clear he was not accused in the officer's attack.  Later that same evening, police announced Keith Galle would also face charges in the attack.

According to police, the victim claimed he went to the Seventh Ward with a man to get a drink.  Along the way, he stopped to get $200 from an ATM.

Police say the victims was shot and robbed in the 2200 block of New Orleans Street.  The man was able to help detectives with the investigation, but there's no update on his medical condition.
