NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- Someone has been tagging "Reznor" on buildings and billboards all over New Orleans, and anti-graffiti guy, Fred Radtke, aka the "Grey Ghost" is out to catch him.
"Reznor is doing the whole city. Dozens all over the city. He's done roofs, billboards, buildings that are two-stories high. This guy is basically out of control right now. We've covered up some of the markings, but he keeps coming back and re-tagging them," Radtke said.
All the damage he's doing is costing the property owners over $25,000.
"The New Orleans Police Department is following up to make sure that this guy isn't only fined, but arrested," he said.
Radtke is the founder and President of Operation Clean Sweep, which eliminates graffiti with his trademark gray paint. He said in the last six months these "Reznor" tags have been popping up in too many places and it must stop!
"We're just like hunters out there. We just follow the graffiti taggers' path," he said.
What makes it so difficult for Operation Clean Sweep is, "You have to catch him in the act, sometimes he's doing the tagging late at night or early in the morning."
Radtke's mission is crystal clear, "Don't be seedy, erase graffiti!"
There's a state law against graffiti which states that a conviction could mean two years in prison.
Since Operation Clean Sweep started, they've painted over 22,000 tags.
