NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Two acts, twenty-two songs, MAMMA MIA! the musical is like a giant dance party and don't be afraid to sing along.
"Kids five-years-old, teenagers, parents, grandparents, it's kind of this music that has spanned so many generations. You will recognize at least three of the songs and they're just so infectious," says actress Chelsea Williams who plays Sophie.
"You know when I was a kid you'd turn on the radio and jam out like you were a rock star, that's what we do every night. What we want from the audience is for the audience to feel the same way, everybody knows these songs whether you think you know them or not you've heard them all before," says Rebecca Mason-Wygal who plays Donna.
It's far from the typical love story and there's plenty of comedy too. The show delves deep into all kinds of relationships but especially the ones we have with our closest friends.
"It's always good to have a little help from your friends, they make everything more fun and a lot more easy to deal with," says Mason-Wygal.
"It is a fantastic girls night out, there's a lot of girl power, there's a lot of women belting and diva moments but there's also these great male characters in the show the three potential fathers are all so different and so hilarious," says Williams.
You can bet the cast is having a blast on stage and off in New Orleans. For many, it's their first time here, and they plan to enjoy it.
"I've always wanted to come here so it's really, really great to be coming here with MAMMA MIA! and sharing what we have to give and experiencing what New Orleans brings too because our audiences here, they come ready to party," says Mason-Wygal.
