Destrehan, La. (WGNO) - “It's a very sad thing that our students and our parents and faculty and staff there have to go through such circumstances at this time,” says Destrehan High parent and graduate Rebecca Smith.

On Friday night WGNO broke the news two women who work as teachers at Destrehan High School are under investigation for allegedly having sexual relations with a male student. As of now St. Charles Parish Public Schools says both teachers are on administrative leave and have been told not to go on campus. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office confirms there is an ongoing criminal investigation surrounding the two teachers, but says no arrests have been made.

“These are our leaders and our mentors and our educators, and these children are minors so they need to be really careful as to what actions, misleading students or vice versa, you know. It's very sad. It's very unfortunate,” says Smith.

While Principal Stephen Weber declined to comment on camera he did send a statement to Wildcat parents and students. It reads:

Good Evening Fighting Wildcat students/parents,

This is Stephen Weber, Principal of Destrehan High School.  By now you may have heard about a situation being investigated at DHS. I want to assure you that while the school system and proper authorities are conducting a thorough investigation of the allegations, you can be confident that teaching and learning, our core business will continue effectively. No further information regarding the situation can be given, but please do not hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any concerns.

As word spreads across campus and around town more details emerge. Former students saying the two teachers had engaged in sexual relations with the student, an upper classman, several times with the last encounter happening less than two weeks ago. They say the teachers are former graduates of Destrehan High. One of the teachers is said to have been teaching at Destrehan for a decade while the other was new.

As of now parents say both teachers have deleted their Facebook and Twitter accounts and have been removed from the school's directory.

At this point no charges have been filed.
