police_lightsEAST HOUMA, La. (WGNO) – A 71-year-old woman suffered bite marks to her face, hands and arms when her son’s dog attacked her Monday, Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Ellender Street around 8:30 p.m. The victim told them she was attached by one of her son’s dog. Her son was not home at the time.

The woman was transported to Leonard Chabert Medical Center for treatment.

Animal control took custody of a male dog who attacked the victim along with another female dog also inside the home.

Duplantis said both dogs appeared to be pit-bull mixes.

It’s important to note that this was an intact male and a female in heat. Keeping unfixed animals together like that is incredibly irresponsible for so many reasons. This could have been prevented.
