NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – This week’s New Orleans Voodoo Athlete of the Week has mastered two languages, but now he wants to master football.

Hahnville offensive lineman Adrian Young is get looks from colleges and will likely get a lot more.

He’s lost weight — down from 320 to 280 pounds — and he’s now ready to be conscientious about football.

“I have to get serious. My whole time at Hahnville I took football as a joke, now that I realize I can go to college for it, it is a whole new level now,” Young told WGNO sports director Ed Daniels.

Hahnville head coach Nick Saltaformaggio notes young is the brother of former Jesuit running back Chris Markey, who went on to star at University of California, Los Angeles.

“He’s a guy at the end of this year, there are going to be a lot of people at his plate. I told him his job is to be more famous than his brother,” Saltaformaggio said. “And, he was a pretty good football player.”

Young attended grade school at the International School in New Orleans, where he learned two languages, French and Spanish.
