The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office says the owner of a garage involved in a deadly hit-and-run investigation pleaded guilty to charges in the case.

Prosecutors say Bill Cager owned the garage where the vehicle involved in the case was discovered.

Cager received a suspended 20-year sentence along with five years probation on Accessory to Manslaughter and other charges.

In July of 2013, NOPD office Rodney Thomas was hit and killed by a car while assisting at an accident scene in the I-10 highrise bridge.  Cager is not accused of being involved in the accident itself.

The DA’s office declined further comment because the cases against other defendants in the investigation remain open.
