(WGNO) – Hahnville pitcher Mark Abate had a busy and stellar summer. He worked 40 hours a week, and he’s hitting 368 with 18 runs batted in.

Abate has also won 6, lost 1.

“The big thing all summer has been his pitching. He has thrown all four pitches for strikes. He is the ultimate competitor,” head baseball coach David Baudry said. “He’s a senior next year and we’ll look for him for leadership. But he’s had a tremendous summer.”

Abate wanted to work this summer so he can duck hunt in the fall. Teal season starts in September.

But the third baseman/pitcher knows what he wants.

“I know baseball comes before all of those things. This is my number one thing. I want to play baseball in college,” Abate said.
