Destrehan Murder Suspect Arrested in Tangipahoa Parish

TANGIPAHOA PARISH (WGNO) – The search is over for a St. Charles Parish man accused of killing his girlfriend and trying to kill her mother.

The Independence Police Department responded when a citizen called saying they spotted Bourgeois inside a Dollar General.

Police say Bourgeois, who was wanted for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend Mia Waite inside their Destrehan home, did not resist arrest.

Bourgeois also has convictions for felony theft in St. Charles Parish and distribution of a false controlled substance in New Orleans.

The NOPD was also looking for Bourgeois, wanted for robbing a man at knife point in the French Quarter on January 12.

He has been booked on charges of 1st degree murder, attempted first degree murder and armed robbery.
