Wednesday, Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan announced that he would not grant a permanent alcohol permit to the owner of a bar in the Olde Towne area.

The owner had been operating the business on a temporary permit.

The bar is located at the same site where eight people were shot on Christmas Day.  Two people died.

According to Drennan, the temporary permit holder knew nothing about the attack when she purchased the bar and changed its name.

Drennan also said, in a written statement, that Slidell police reported some other incidents involving the new establishment.

“…the Slidell Police Department made two arrests… for alleged drug sales, and issued summonses to five employees for allegedly selling alcohol to minors,” the statement reads.
