Mandeville will spend nearly $300,000 on expanding its crime camera network.  Most of the money will come from grants.

The new cameras will focus on the Mandeville Trailhead, along the lakefront, and other public areas.

Mandeville police say the cameras will help prevent and solve crime in the areas where they are present.

The city first installed cameras in 2006 as a way to maximize policing at a time when the city’s population was increasing after Hurricane Katrina.
