METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) – The man who hit and killed a motorcyclist on Clearview Parkway in Metairie Thursday evening was allegedly drunk and had three children in the car, Sheriff Newell Normand said.

After the initial accident, witnesses told police at the scene, Ferrera attempted to drive away but couldn’t because the motorcycle was wedge under his SUV.

The cyclist has been identified as Ewin “EJ”¬† Zelaya. He was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Zelaya’s friends and family have set up a gofundme account.
