This week, workers will begin resurfacing the East Causeway Approach in Mandeville.

The work will require closing lanes during some parts of the day, but Mandeville Mayor Donald Villere says all lanes will remain open during morning and afternoon commutes.

The job is expected to be finished by late September.  Next year, the same contractors will resurface the West Causeway Approach.

The construction on the East Approach comes as many drivers and business owners are growing increasingly frustrated with widening work on Highway 190 in Mandeville.  Mayor Villere also released an update on that project.

Villere says he’s met with the contractor, the state, and business owners.  He says construction should allow for outer lanes of the highway to be open before the Christmas shopping season.  Over the past few months, several elected leaders have expressed their concern over the pace of the 190 widening project.
