Parts of the North Shore are hit hard with heavy rains and unexpected flooding.

Covington Point Rd. on the Northeast side of the city leads through a neighborhood full of homes on the brink of heavy water damage.

Volunteers hurried to clear a ditch along River Rd. allowing the neighborhood to drain faster.

People who live here say the reason their neighborhood flooded is a case of too much water… too fast.

“That`s exactly what it is,” says a neighbor along Sumner St. “Normally we got a big canal that runs right behind our house here and it usually pushes water pretty quick.”

Rivers near Covington are either in flood stage or expected to get to flood stage by Thursday.
