The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk Opens Thursday: We Reveal The Best Deals

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Construction crews are practically working round the clock. They have one more full day to put the finishing touches on the new outlet mall at the Riverwalk. WGNO News Anchor Vanessa Bolano takes us inside and shows us some of the hottest deals you can find this weekend.

Samantha Nguyen is ready to get back to work.

“I think the traffic will be much more than before,” says Nguyen the owner of Dazzlingz and Mardi Gras Masquerade.

Back in 1990 Nguyen owned multiple shops inside what used to be The Riverwalk Marketplace. She’s been out of business for a year waiting for this new concept to come to life, and on Thursday The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk will.

“I suspect that people will even be taking the day off that day. Sorry for the other employers in New Orleans, but we think that there’s been so much pent up demand and anticipation that people can’t wait to come back here and shop,” says Senior VP of development Mark Bulmash, “It’s an urban location and I think the stores have actually stepped up and created nicer designs and more substantial stores. It’s really great. Everybody is coming with their A game here.”

The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk is the result of $70-Million in upgrades taking what was once a dark and virtually empty mall and transforming it into the country’s first upscale outlet center in a major downtown. The new mall is 98% occupied  with close to 75 retailers.

For now, crews are busy making sure cash registers work, price tags are on, and sale signs are visible.

Bulmash says merchandise at the mall will always be marked down 25% to 65%, but this Memorial Day weekend expect extra savings.


-Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio (which just so happens to be the first Neimans in the state) will offer an additional 30% off

-Tommy Bahama (another first) is marking prices down 50%

-Guess is giving shoppers a free tote while supplies last


Bulmash says all their deals and events will be displayed on a big screen near the food court, and inside pamphlets near the entrance.

“With this new concept as an outlet center it will be a lot more than before. I can imagine that,” explains Nguyen.

More foot traffic which translates into money for money for owners who are now working round the clock to welcome shoppers starting this Thursday.
