MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) – The latest public meeting to rally opposition against a proposed oil drilling operation drew hundreds of people to the Castine Center in Mandeville Monday night.  It’s just the latest meeting of its kind in the past several weeks.

Only problem is, many of the same people are attending each meeting.  And they have yet to meet with the company that’s behind the proposed fracking operation.

“I’m out of here,” one woman said as she headed for the doors.  “Waste of time.”

Helis Oil and Gas wants to drill the well off of Log Cabin Road, between I-12 and Highway 1088.  But neighbors say the company has failed to meet with them or address any of their concerns that the well could lead to tremors in the area or threaten the water supply.

A public hearing in Baton Rouge with the Louisiana Office of Conservation that was originally set for this week has been postponed until June.
