NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – There’s less than two hours left to make a charitable donation to your favorite non-profit organization.

Give-NOLA Day ends Tuesday at midnight.

WGNO News Reporter Darian Trotter takes a look at the fundraiser and how you can help make a difference.

It’s been a day of giving; a chance to support local non-profits during the 24-hour online fundraising campaign called Give NOLA Day.

“We’re going this together with 74 cities across the country as part of this give local America campaign,” Greater New Orleans Foundation President & CEO Albert Ruesga said.

Here’s how it works; Use your credit card to make a minimum ten dollar donation to the non-profit organization of your choice.

There are more than 300 in the New Orleans area.

During the fundraiser, a portion of your donation will be matched a special fund set up by The Greater New Orleans Foundation.

“You have a couple more hours before midnight to get your gifts in,” Ruesga said.

“We’re pretty excited about it; we’ve been gearing up for this several weeks now,” Bridge House, Grace House CEO Else Pedersen said.

Else Pedersen is with Bridge House – Grace House; the organizations that provide long-term residential substance abuse treatment to men and women who can’t afford it.

Tuesday’s fundraiser will support continued outreach.

“These organizations, they really struggle every day; day in and day out to raise money to provide services for our city to improve the quality of life for all of us,” Ruesga said. “These are organizations that take care of our kids, they mentor our kids, they help our sick, they bring the arts to the community and without them this community wouldn’t be what it is.” “Wouldn’t be the place that we know.”

Organizers say you can still make a donation even after the fundraiser. Organizations raise funds year round.
