(CNN) — The NBA has banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and is fining him $2.5 million — the maximum fine allowed under the league’s constitution — NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Tuesday.

That ban would, among other things, keep Sterling from games, practices, and from going to Clippers facilities.
