CINCINNATI, Ohio — Parents in Cincinnati say at first they were shocked, but now feel violated after someone hacked into their video baby monitor and screamed at their 10-month-old daughter.

Fox19 spoke with the Schreck family.  They say the creepy experience happened around midnight.

“All of a sudden, I heard what sounded like a man’s voice but I was asleep so I wasn’t sure,” Heather, the mother of little Emma said.

She quickly grabbed her cell phone to check the baby monitor camera.  But what she saw next shocked both her and her husband.

“About the time I saw it moving, I also heard a voice again start screaming at my daughter. He was screaming, ‘Wake up baby. Wake up baby.’ Then just screaming at her trying to wake her up,” Heather told Fox19.

That’s when Adam, Emma’s father, ran in to the sleeping baby’s bedroom.  He said the camera then turned towards him, and a man’s voice screamed obscenities at him, before he unplugged the camera.

But only after everything went quiet did the Schreck family realize what had happened.  Somehow someone hacked into their camera and watched their baby sleep, and this might not have been the first time.

According to tech experts, wireless IP cameras like the one the Schreck have are an easy way for hackers to open a cyber door directly into your home.
