NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – He’s talented, and a bit of an unknown until this season.  He’s our New Orleans VooDoo Athlete of the Week.

Brother Martin’s third baseman, Owen Magee, is in the midst of a stellar senior season.

Magee’s averaged has hovered near .500 for much of the year.

He is often known as the guy who hits behind star shortstop Gregory Deichmann, and head coach Mark Wisniewski is good with that.

“It came to the point where a lot people were walking Greg to get [Owen],” Wisniewski said.  “He has had a tremendous year, he’s a great young man, and we are happy to have in our program.”

Brother Martin High School won back-to-back league titles by closing with a rush, defeating Jesuit High School and Archbishop Rummel High School.

But Magee can’t hide in the shadows any longer.

When asked if he thought people overlooked him, Magee said “I don’t like to say overlooked, we have big names on the team. I don’t like to say overlooked, but you can say that sure.”

Magee has signed to play college baseball with the Delgado Dolphins.
