NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – This week’s New Orleans VooDoo Athlete has had a great season, and hopes to have a great second season too.

Ursuline pitcher Jenna Jurisich is one of two seniors on a young and talented squad.

On Friday April 11th, the Lions produced their biggest win, 5-1 over Cabrini High School . With the win, the Lions shared the district title with the Crescents.

Jurisich pitched 6 shutout innings to get the victory.

“We have a really young team, and we have worked really hard, and I am proud of my team,” Jurisich told WGNO.

Ursuline Coach Stephen Dickey said, “I was very proud of [Jenna].  Very proud of our team. Our whole team came through.”

Jurisich leads her team in average and slugging percentage. She also hit 4 of her team`s 6 home runs.

Jurisich and teammate Meta Hight are the team’s seniors.

“I don’t think I am ready to leave,” Jurisich admitted.  “I just want to stay here and keep going.”

Hight and Jurisich are both affectionately called the team’s princesses.

So, they each received tiaras.
