Hahnville planned to honor its retiring softball coach, but the Tigers didn’t plan on it being Kenny Vial’s final game.

27th seeded Alexandria scored 6 times in the top of the 7th inning to eliminate Hahnville 8-5 in the first round of the 5A playoffs in Boutte.

Vial first coached Hahnville in the 2003 season. 12 seasons later, he departs with 329 wins and a 2011 state 5A baseball title.

His final team finishes with 22 wins and 5 losses. He said not playing enough close games during the season hurt his club in the first round of the playoffs.
