NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – New Orleans is again on the national TV stage, where Travel Channel is at the French Market grilling up some Louisiana flavor.

The new reality series American Grilled gives watchers a new twist in competition cooking.

“They are gonna give them some surprise ingredients,” says Willie Mae’s owner Kerry Seaton Stewart, selected to be a judge. “Hey, I know my way around a kitchen. New Orleans is home for me.”

Look whose back in town. Legendary local chef David Guas, selected as the host of American Grilled.

“I think they understood my passion towards growing up grilling.”

Guas says hosting American Grilled allows him to spread New Orleans flavor and flare on a national stage, “I’m a little bit of an ambassador to the city in a very prideful way. We couldn’t even think of doing a show like this without bringing it to New Orleans.”

“Everything to help New Orleans move forward, have new jobs,” says Stewart.

Different episodes of American Grilled will trek beyond New Orleans, showcasing our nation’s passion for BBQ.

The series will debut this summer.
