NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – This week’s New Orleans VooDoo Athlete of the week has done the math and five = three.

Katie Brignac of John Curtis Christian School tossed shutouts in three recent games, including Monday’s fame against Belle Chasse.

Brignac was 20-0 last season, earning her a spot on the MaxPreps Preseason National Softball Team.

This season, Brignac is also hitting a crisp .682.

She is attempting to lead her team to a third straight 2A Softball Championship.

When asked how important is the championship this year? Brignac said, “Same as it was the year before. Of course it is my senior year. I want it, but we are taking it a game at a time. Five games, that is all we want, five games.”

Head coach Jerry Godfrey said Katie has life skills, as well as softball ones.

“I know she’s a great player and everyone knows that. But, she’s such a good person, she’s a Christian and she is such a great person,” he said.

Katie Brignac signed to play at the University of Memphis next year.

She is the younger sister of former Curtis and Louisiana-Lafayette pitcher Ashley Brignac.
