The Wave got the answer Tuesday night in a 16-0 throttling at the hands of second ranked UL Lafayette at Tigue Moore Field.

Tulane was outhit 22 to 3.

The 22 hits were the most allowed by the Green Wave in 12 years. Charlotte had 25 in a defeat of Tulane on March 16th, 2002.

The Cajuns hit two doubles, three triples, and a pair of home runs.

Pinch hitter Eric Powell’s three run homer off Emerson  Gibbs gave the Cajuns a 10-0 lead.

The Cajuns moved to 27-3 on the season. Tulane fell to 13-14.

“We played a special team tonight, and we knew that coming in,” said assistant coach Jake Gautreau.

Cody Merrill took the loss for the Green Wave. He started and lasted two innings, allowing six hits, and four runs, all earned.
