Avrard Pitches Jesuit Past Brother Martin

Jesuit right hander Corey Avrard tossed a complete game four hit shutout as Jesuit beat Brother Martin 1-0 Monday night at John Ryan Stadium.

Jesuit is now 2-0 in Catholic League play. Brother Martin is 1-1. Both teams are 17-3 overall.

Brother Martin had several early chances against Avrard. The Crusaders loaded the bases with two out in the first, but Jesuit shortstop Alex Galy saved at least two runs with an over the shoulder catch of a fly ball by Brother Martin’s Rafael DeRoche.

Scott Crabtree’s RBI triple to right center scored the only run of the game in the Jesuit fourth off Brother Martin ace Corey Gaconi.

Avrard struck out the side in the 7th inning.
