Zurich Classic of New Orleans champion Billy Horschel said winning here next month is bigger than a first trip to Augusta National.

“I honestly meant it when I said I am more excited to come back here and defend here as the defending champion than I am to go to the Masters for the first time,” said Horschel.

Horschel made his remarks at a midday press conference and lunch at the TPC of Louisiana in Avondale.

Last April, Horschel told Zurich CEO Martin Senns that he would “see him in the winner’s circle Sunday.”

Horschel then shot an 8 under 64 on Sunday, that included the game winning 27 foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.

“Have I have made any outlandish predictions about myself?” joked Horschel. “No, at least not in public.”

Horschel was 18 under par over the final four holes of the tournament.

Only Tom Watson and Carlos Franco have won the New Orleans stop on the PGA tour in consecutive years.

He has one top 10 finish this season. The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is April 21st thru the 27th. Fore Kids Foundation CEO Steve Worthy said the Monday and Wednesday pro ams in New Orleans are sold out.

There are still spots open for the Baton Rouge portion of the pro am.
