Husband and Wife Shot in LaPlace Armed Robbery

(WGNO) – Two people are in custody in connection with a shooting that left a man dead and his wife clinging to life.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happen around 2:36 p.m. Tuesday inside LaPlace Feed & Supply Co Inc. in the 100 block of Sleepy Redwood Street.

When deputies arrived at the scene they discovered two victims, 63-year-old Steve Finckbeiner and his wife 58-year-old Constance Finckbeiner.  Both sustain gunshot wounds.  Steve was pronounced dead at the scene,  Constance is in critically conditions, according to police.

They are the owners of the store.

Officials did not provide a possible motive for the shooting, but said cash was taken from the store’s cash draw.

Schools in the area were placed on locked down for about two hours following the shooting.   The investigation is ongoing.
