Shoot Hoops In Style With Kickasso’s Snazzy Sneakers

Inspired by the basketball events and sneaker conference, Sneaker Con taking place in New Orleans starting February 14, W New Orleans is presenting an art installation of custom-designed footwear created by sneaker artist Kickasso in its Living Room from February 14 – 16.

The installation will feature 10 – 15 ordinary tennis and basketball shoes that the artist transformed into custom, wearable art. Among the shoes displayed in the Living Room will be several commissioned or inspired by celebrities and the official shoe designed for Sneaker Con in New Orleans, the traveling event for sneaker connoisseurs to buy, sell and trade some of the most sought after footwear.

Kickasso, or Troy Cole, is a South Carolina-based artist who paints on many traditional and non-traditional mediums including canvas, automobiles and now sneakers. Since 2012, he started transforming ordinary tennis shoes into wearable art by adding textiles such as snakeskin and using airbrush techniques and hand painting to create unique designs and imagery. He has become the go-to artist for custom footwear and regularly works with clients including celebrities and athletes as well as corporate partners to bring his collectible designs mainstream.
