A little over 3 years ago, the folks here at WGNO Ch. 26 approached me about doing an editorial or commentary on their new news show “News With A Twist”.  TV edititials were always a part of my life and most people’s lives growing up in New Orleans.  In the 60’s several television news outlets had editorials, if not daily, at least a few times a week.  As late as the late 70’s, at least 2 television news operations here in New Orleans did an editorial.  Then it was down to one.  And then finally, no one was doing a TV editorial.  A newspaper operation that bought one of the local tv stations said we should leave the editorials to the newspapers and not TV.  Ch. 26 thought otherwise.  They thought it was vitally important to have an opinion or editorial every weekday.

So, for the last 3 years of “News With A Twist, we’ve done exactly that.  No other TV station in New Orleans does more editorials or commentaries than Ch. 26.  As a matter of fact, Ch. 26 is the only TV station in New Orleans doing daily commentaries.  And I think that’s important.  A real news outlet dedicated to providing the best news possible and allowing one of its own to state their opinion on a daily basis.  It’s been an honor and pleasure allowing me into your homes for the last 3 years and I hope to continue doing these editorials long into the future.
