The Super Krewe of Endymion will be throwing something new this year off their Pontchartrain Beach float.

They are paying tribute to days gone by with their limited edition Pontchartrain Beach themed medallion beads.

Endymion is rich in history and this year they’re taking a little piece of history and making  a new tradition.

“This is the first year we have lighted Pontchartrain Beach medallions.  We’ve been doing lighted products for more than 15 years”, Dan Kelly, President of Endymion and Owner of Beads By The Dozen, said.

Kelly said, “For those of us in our 50’s and 60’s, we all remember Pontchartrain Beach.  We’d always go there on the weekends.  It’s a shame we don’t have it here anymore, but it’s something that we want to remember.”

Pontchartrain Beach closed to the public in the 1980’s.

Krewe members riding the 330-foot Pontchartrain Beach float will throw a limited amount of these nine special beads.

“They’ll be very much in demand.  There are only 20-thousand pieces,”  he said.

Don’t Forget…Superstar, Carrie Underwood will be riding in Endymion this year too.

“It’s an exciting time for us”, Kelly said.

Did you know?  Endymion members throw 250-thousand lighted throws.

Endymion is set to roll on Saturday, March 1st on it’s traditional Mid-City route.
