Fashion world get ready!

A little New Orleans flare is on the horizon.

Louisiana born and bred, designer Amanda Deleon is one of a select few chosen to showcase her innovative styles at one of the most prestigious high-end fashion events in the biz, New York Fashion Week.

“Pretty exciting. I can’t believe it honestly,” says Deleon inside her humble Mid-City tailoring room. “People started taking notice and I ended up doing custom work. And it kind of snowballed from there.”

The Louisiana Tech grad says she’s from northern Louisiana, “Right outside of the small town of Jonesboro. Yeah, I was the one sewing all my classmates stuff to get them a passing grade.”

Officially called the Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week in New York, Deleon says this invite only affair is a platform to unleash her forward thinking designs of extraordinary grace and elegance. “You get to present in front of buyers. That’s how you get your clothing in the store. It’s all high fashion, made of luxury fabrics like wools, silks and leather.”

But for the Louisiana native with prevailing taste in appearance, its crunch time, “I’ve got to raise $5000 in less than a week.”

She says the New York Fashion Week invitation is a sudden and unexpected expensive.

Not to be deterred, Deleon supporters designed a donation website through, “They can click to donate. They can donate anything from one dollar on up.”

Deleon remains optimistic her chance to shine in the Big Apple gets closer every day, “My designs, they’re for special occasion. These clothes are to make you feel powerful and special.”
