Fire House Burgers is the newest venture for the Cvitanovich family. They are best known for the mouthwatering charbroiled oysters they serve up inside Drago’s, and now the burgers will also come drenched in their famous sauce.

“We only go through about 100 gallons a day right now between two restaurants so my goal is to get it up to a couple hundred gallons a day,” says Cvitanovich, “You can put that butter garlic sauce on a two by four and it’s going to be good!”

The restaurant is in Fat City just footsteps from the original Drago’s that opened 45 years ago. Since then the neighborhood has been through a facelift spearheaded by Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng. Fat City has gone from bars and strip clubs to more of a family friendly zone.

Some that have survived the changes says business is tough. Tommy Cvitanovich says he’s vested in keeping the neighborhood alive.

“It kind of hit a speed bump the last few years. There’s a lot of changes happening. It’s not popular with everybody, but at the end of the day whether you like the changes or don’t like the changes it is a better place that it was a year ago.”

The restaurant located at 3224 Edenborn Avenue opens Monday. Restaurant hours are Monday-Saturday, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., closed Sundays. They expect to adjust the hours to add lunch service soon.

The restaurant’s menu features Fire House Specials including:
