Gretna police say they apprehended four people Sunday afternoon following a convenience store robbery.

They say their officers were at the scene less than a minute after a clerk at the store, on Lafayette Street, called 911 and reported the armed robbery.

Gretna police say they spotted a car in the area that was driving with no lights on.  They say that the car sped away from officers when they tried to make a traffic stop.  A high-speed chase followed with speeds in excess of 100mph until the suspects’ car crashed in New Orleans.

Police say the two front seat occupants appeared to have weapons as they jumped from the car.  Police shot both, one in the leg, the other in the abdomen.  Both men were placed under arrest.  At last word, one remained in the hospital.

Two passengers in the backseat were also arrested without further incident.
