Tuesday afternoon, Jefferson Parish road crews closed a section of Harvey Boulevard at the corner of Manhattan Boulevard due to concerns of ice.

Parish leaders said a leak on private property was sending water onto the road.  They were concerned that the water would freeze and cause accidents as the temperature dropped.

The road will remain closed until repairs are made or conditions improve.

The move follows another situation on Chef Menteur Highway earlier in the day that caused at least three accidents.

New Orleans police said water on Chef Hwy had frozen and created a black ice situation for drivers who couldn’t see the road hazard until they were upon it.
